about

Magic Eye [Kohl 008]

credits

released November 21, 2013

Alain Lefebvre makes abstract-concrete experimental noise with amplified objects and lo-fi devices which he pushes beyond their intended use and capabilities. He is interested in using typically unwanted sounds as a means of reconsidering prevailing distinctions between the intrinsically musical and the intrinsically non-musical. His music embraces short circuits, 50-60Hz hum, DC offset, electromagnetic interference, transducer interference, and other perhaps unnamed analog pariahs. He has been making experimental music since 2001-2002. In 2011, he began concentrating on live improvisation, performing principally in Montreal, as well as curating the concert series “We are the Drugs” with Chris Strickland. His first album to contain solely live material, “Objects and Electronics”, was released in 2012 on K.A.N.T. N.A.G.A.N.O.'s Encodages de l'Oubli label. His most recent album, “Magic Eye”, is a collection of studies recorded in August 2013.
