Spéléogenèse #7 fait partie d'une série d'œuvres composées à partir d'enregistrements que j'ai réalisés dans des grottes au Vietnam en 2020. La plupart de ces enregistrements ont été faits au parc national de Phong Nha-Ke Bang, un endroit réputé pour son grand nombre de grottes, dont celle de Hang Son Ðoòng, considérée comme la plus vaste galerie souterraine au monde. En plus d'enregistrer des éléments sonores se produisant naturellement à l'intérieur des grottes, j'ai aussi improvisé de la musique qui était diffusée sur de petits haut-parleurs et enregistrée par des microphones que j'ai disposés de manière à capter les espaces acoustiques des grottes. Le son des haut-parleurs devait parfois passer par plusieurs couloirs et galeries avant d'atteindre mon appareil d'enregistrement. Ainsi les sons étaient « travaillés » au fil de leur déplacement par l'architecture et les aspérités rocheuses, dans un dialogue entre le son et l'espace. Ces sanctuaires de pierre me renvoyaient en effet les sons produits en y ajoutant un spectre sonore plus large que je réintégrais ensuite dans ma musique et redirigeais encore vers ces mêmes espaces.

Speleogenesis # 7 is one of a series of works composed from recordings I made in caves in Vietnam in 2020. Most of these recordings were made at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a place famous for its large number of caves, including that of Hang Son Ðoòng, considered the largest underground gallery in the world.
