How we protect your CDL credentials, location data, and personal information on the TruckerDating platform.

TL;DR

We collect only the data needed to verify identity, run compatibility matching, and process payments. We never sell location data. CDL licenses and ID documents are encrypted, used only for verification, and deleted after 90 days. You can export, correct, or delete your account at any time.

TruckerDating ("we," "our," "us") is a private matchmaking platform built for CDL professionals. Privacy is the single biggest trust concern raised by owner-operators evaluating our service - no driver wants colleagues, dispatchers, or carriers seeing their dating profile. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, and the controls you have over it.

What Data We Collect

We collect three categories of data, and only what is necessary for the platform to function:

Account and Profile Information

  • Name, age, email, phone number, and password
  • Profile photos, biography, relationship goals, and lifestyle preferences
  • Driver type (OTR, regional, owner-operator, fleet owner) and typical haul corridors
  • Optional fields: hobbies, military veteran status, pets in cab, home-time preferences

Verification Data

  • Government-issued ID (driver's license or passport) for identity verification
  • A live selfie used solely to confirm the ID matches the profile photos
  • CDL Class A credential (optional, used only to grant the verified-driver badge)

Usage and Technical Data

  • Device type, browser, IP address, and approximate region (city-level only)
  • Login times, messages sent, and matches viewed
  • Payment metadata from our processor (Stripe) - we never store full card numbers

What we do not collect: your dispatcher information, employer name, ELD logs, exact GPS coordinates, or any data from your truck's telematics. We have no integrations with any trucking software.

How We Use Your Information

Data is used for five purposes, and nothing else:

  1. Account operation: creating your profile, logging you in, sending password resets.
  2. Matching: running the compatibility engine against your stated preferences and route corridors.
  3. Verification: confirming you are a real adult and your photos are authentic.
  4. Trust and safety: detecting bots, scams, and abusive accounts.
  5. Billing: processing premium subscription payments through Stripe.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share data with advertising networks. We do not use your profile content to train third-party AI models. We do not run behavioral ad pixels from Meta, TikTok, or Google on logged-in pages.

Protecting Your CDL and Verification Documents

CDL credentials and government IDs receive the strictest handling tier on our platform:

  • Encrypted at rest using AES-256 in an isolated storage bucket separated from the main user database.
  • Limited access - only two senior trust-and-safety staff hold decryption keys, and every access is logged.
  • Auto-deletion after 90 days from upload. Once your verification badge is granted, the underlying ID file is purged.
  • Never displayed on your public profile, never shared with other members, and never used for marketing.
  • Never shared with employers, carriers, the FMCSA, or any government body except in response to a valid US court order.

Your CDL number is hashed and matched against industry blocklists only to prevent banned users from re-registering - the raw number is not stored.

Regardless of which state you operate in, every TruckerDating member has the following rights:

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to limit use of sensitive personal information. EU and UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority if they believe a right has been infringed.
